POLICE kEEP MUM OVER DETAINED COPS

Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt
THE Rivers State Police Command has remained silent on the alarm raised by a policeman attached to Mopol 19 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The policeman identified as Sunday Sadiku had claimed that he had been detained for the past two weeks without committing any offence.
Sadiku had in a text message made available to PUNCH said his rank (not stated) was removed before he was thrown inside the cell.
“I am Sadiku Sunday serving in Mopol 19 PMF, Port Harcourt, Rivers State Command. I have been in the cell for over two weeks now without committing any offence.
“This was after they had removed my rank without committing any offence and they started punishing me. Now, I am still in the cell,” the message from Sadiku read.
When contacted on Thursday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, told our correspondent that he had nothing to say about the matter.
