Written by Mr Paul  31/08/2016 Singer Chris Brown was engaged in a bizarre standoff with Los Angeles authorities who had obtained a search warrant for the performer’s Tarzana home. Joseph Serna, Richard Winton and Matt Hamilton Chris Brown and the Los Angeles Police Department spent much of Tuesday locked in a surreal standoff at the R&B performer's Tarzana home over allegations that he threatened a woman with a gun. The woman alleged Brown pointed the gun at her and she fled in fear, then balked at signing a nondisclosure agreement before escaping from the singer’s property. For hours, LAPD officers — along with an army of reporters — stood outside the house as Brown refused to let them in. During the impasse, the 27-year-old took to social media and posted a series of videos in which he railed against the police and said he was being unfairly demonized. This latest peculiar chapter in L.A.’s annals of celebrity justice ended late afternoon when Brown was taken into cust

The award-winning actress, who recently opened up on challenges of being a comedienne, said: “We have actually filmed the 5th season but we are airing the fourth right now and we would soon begin shooting the sixth season. “I must confess that I am tired because it is not easy writing, playing the lead character, assisting the director and also supervising the whole project. “It is not easy writing a comedy script but each time I want to put it to rest, people tell me that the last season was lovely and they keep asking what would be happening in seasons to come. They still want to see more because everyone loves Jenifa. I believe that Jenifa is a brand that has come to stay because we use her as a vessel to pass message

Nigeria’s unity negotiable, says Prof. Ango Abdullahi

Image
A former Minister of Education and member of the Northern Elders Forum, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, has said if Nigerians has found it difficult to live together in peace, the component units should find it convenient to go their separate ways. Accusing the elite of being the cause of the nation’s multifaceted challenges, Abdullahi believed that if the amalgamation of the country in1914 by Lord Lugard was a mistake, “each region should go separately.” Abdullahi stated these on Tuesday in Abuja during the public presentation of two books:  Boko Haram: The Charade vs Reality and The Life and Times of Umaru Turakin Bauchi, written by a former Diplomatic Editor of the Voice of America and now visiting Professor in ABU, Zaria, Hadiza Wada. The former Vice-Chancellor of the Ahmadu bello University, Zaria, and former Adviser on Food Security to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, also called on the Federal Government to fight the Niger Delta Avengers before fighting members of the Boko Haram sect.

Nigeria’s poor outing at the Rio Olympic Games has triggered a debate over what should be done to improve the country’s fortune in sporting events. ADEYINKA ADEDIPE takes a look at Team Nigeria’s performance in Brazil and writes that the slide will continue unless the government, corporate organisations and other stakeholders rise ways to rescue the situation. The story of Nigeria’s failure at the 31st edition of the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil is a familiar one. Only the die-hard optimists and unrepentant patriots would have expected a different outcome considering the shoddy build-up to the Games. Those who expected a spectacular performance from Team Nigeria in Rio got it all wrong. They allowed patriotism, rather than reality, to override their sense of judgment. For the umpteenth time, the woeful performance of Nigeria at a major championship has sparked debate over what should be done to get sports on the right track. It took the heroic effort of the Dream Team to win a bronze

Chris Brown Allegedly Pulled a Gun On a Woman.

Image
Chris Brown’s accuser, Baylee Curran, has posted a video on Instagram responding to critics of her motives for calling the cops on Brown. “Do you all honestly think I wanted this and I caused this?” she said. “If somebody put a gun to your head, what would you do? Call the police.” Comments on Curran’s post include choice messages as, “Sounds like a typical thing a white girl victim would say stfu you just want money dumb ass bitch,” and “here’s your 15 minutes of fame.” In an interview with TMZ, Curran said that Brown pulled a gun on Curran after she admired a piece of jewelry. Police began searching Brown’s home after obtaining a search warrant at roughly 1 p.m. local time in Los Angeles. *** “Chris is finally awake and posting videos.” That might be the greatest update ever to a celebrity scandal story, with its plainspoken, almost blasé matter-of-factness perhaps more effectively indicting a celebrity’s actions than any warranted incendiary language could.
